Scouting encourages respect for the environment and for each other. Here are some of the ways we put that into practice.
Uniform recycling
Outgrown shirts and neckers don’t need to go in the bin. We help families pass on good-condition uniform so new members can kit up affordably and we waste less. Ask your section leader about how to donate or request items.
Fundraising
We run fundraising events throughout the year to support camps, equipment and the den. Recent events have included:
- 12 Days of Christmas Raffle: our annual community raffle
- Tesco Community Fund: ongoing community support scheme
- Quizzes, clothes drives and bake sales organised by individual sections
All funds raised go directly to equipment, camps and keeping the den in good shape for our members.
Local action
From litter picks to community events, sections often take on small projects that make Ballinteer and the wider area a bit better. Details vary by section and season. Leaders will share what’s coming up.
